Sign & Text Bridge
A simple, professional bridge between spoken language and text so deaf, hard‑of‑hearing and hearing people can communicate more easily across African and global languages.
Guidelines for accurate use:
- Before you start, agree on who is the speaker and who is the sign user / writer.
- Ask the hearing speaker to talk clearly, one idea at a time, and pause so the text can be read.
- Encourage the sign user or writer to review the text and ask for repetition when needed.
- For medical, legal or sensitive topics, involve a qualified human interpreter whenever possible.
Mode A: Speaker to Text (for sign-language readers)
The hearing person presses Start listening, speaks in their language, then presses Stop. The Bridge shows the text and translation for the sign-language user and interpreter.
Text for the reader
Save this exchange with both parts: the speaker’s text and the writer’s text that was spoken out.
Mode B: Writer to Voice (for hearing listeners)
The sign-language user or anyone who prefers typing writes their message, chooses the language it should be spoken in, and the Bridge plays it out loud for the hearing person.
